Racing for mental health

Racing for mental health

On Saturday 24 October we get behind the wheel. Virtually, but for a very real cause.

We Are Fit is entering two cars in Simracing for Mental Helse Ungdom 2026: a four-hour charity race on iRacing, GT3 class, at Interlagos in Brazil. The entry fee goes in full to Mental Helse Ungdom.

Linn and Mia drive for us

Linn Lenes and Mia-Caroline Magnussen, better known as @nomadictwinz, are behind the wheel for We Are Fit. They share the four hours, with driver changes along the way, as the GT3 rules require.

Both are now making videos about their own relationship with mental health, which they are posting ahead of the race. It is their story to tell, and we look forward to hearing it.

Follow them on Instagram, and follow along here. We share everything they post.

Give us a better starting position

The starting order is set by how much each team has raised before the start. The more that comes in on our page, the further forward the car sits when the lights go out.

So you can actually move us. Every krone counts.

What is Simracing for Mental Helse Ungdom?

It is a Norwegian charity race on iRacing, now in its third year in a row. Norwegian sim racers take part in one shared race, and all proceeds go to Mental Helse Ungdom. The first two years raised more than half a million kroner combined.

Simracing for Mental Helse Ungdom has raised 567,134 kroner in two years. The goal for 2026 is 300,000.

Teams of two drivers sign up for 250 kroner per car. This year the race is at Interlagos in São Paulo, the track where Senna and Schumacher raced, now open to anyone with a sim rig and an internet connection.

Mental Helse Ungdom

Mental Helse Ungdom is an interest organization for children and young people up to age 36. They work for openness about mental health and better health services, and they are guided by lived experience. Those who have experienced it themselves set the agenda.

"Our ambition is that no one should struggle so much that death becomes the only way out."
Mental Helse Ungdom

They create meeting places, organize trips, run the Hjelpechatten help chat and campaign politically for better mental health care. The money from the race goes straight into that work, with no deductions.

Exercise and movement are closely linked to mental health. It is not always easy to talk about, and sometimes showing up is enough.

Women in motorsport

Motorsport is still an arena where women are in the minority, including in virtual form. The sim racing scene in Norway is technical, tough and driven mostly by men.

That is why we wanted women behind the wheel. We Are Fit is about taking up space, in the studio and on the trail. The same goes for the sim rig. You do not need to ask permission to drive.

Interlagos

Interlagos is known for tight racing and drama. In the GT3 class, with two drivers swapping over four hours, it becomes a real challenge: demanding curbs and a tire strategy that decides the result as much as raw speed.

On iRacing the track is modeled at full scale, with Senna S, Curva do Sol and the long Reta Oposta where the GT3 cars stretch their legs. Four hours is long enough for something to go wrong for somebody. That is why it is worth watching.

How it looked last year

Here is the broadcast from 2025, the year the race set a record with 310,246 kroner.

How you can take part

You can give today. Every krone to We Are Fit's team on Spleis goes to Mental Helse Ungdom and moves us forward on the grid.

You can follow Linn and Mia on @nomadictwinz, where they post along the way ahead of the race.

And you can watch the race on Saturday 24 October. Four hours at Interlagos, with two cars in WAF colors. We will share the link to the broadcast here as soon as it is ready.

Thank you to everyone who gives.
